Ergotron Sit-Stand Workstations
Ergotron workstations are an effective antidote against sitting disease (caused by prolonged sitting) which is leading to life threatening conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. They promote alternating between sitting and standing, which makes the computer user comfortable and pain free, which in turn increases productivity. Ergotron's latest design of WorkFit-A with suspended keyboard tray attaches to the back of the desk clearing up valuable work space in the front while dropping the keyboard below desktop. WorkFit-S installs in the front of the desk and is an affordable first entry into the sit-stand area.

NASA has been conducting studies in order to guage the impact of long hours of sitting by astronauts in space. One of the physicians, Dr Joan Vernikos, who was a part of this NASA study, has written a book called Sitting Kills, Moving Heals. The NASA study found that the lack of gravity in space deteriorates the astronauts' bones and muscles. Referring to this study in her book, Dr Vernikos states that continous sitting is bad for health, an idea that is increasingly becoming popular. But what Dr Vernikos recommends next in her book is revolutionary. She claims that the body needs perpetual motion and frequent change in posture for a long, healthy life. So a host of small, frequent gravity-defying and low-intensity activities are more effective than following a traditional 3-5 times a week exercising and diet routine. This means that, according to Dr Vernikos, if you have a strenous exercise regimen of 3 to 5 times a week for an hour each but end up sitting at work for 8 hours continously, the benefits of exercise are not only going to be neutralized by the long hours of sitting at work but the negative effects of sitting will soon take over. The Ergotron Workstations cater to this idea as they facilitate change in posture and alternating between sitting and standing, with the click of a button.
